“We’re all going to die, all of us, what a circus! That alone should make us love each other but it doesn’t. We are terrorized and flattened by trivialities, we are eaten up by nothing.” — Charles Bukowski

I’ve been back in Paris since mid-September with the plan to put my affairs in order before hitting the road again in the beginning of 2022 if the covid-19 pandemic doesn’t go out of control… I do miss Seoul and my friends out there, it feels like I left my heart in Korea. There’s so much I want to talk about, so much I wrote about — I write everyday — but didn’t post on my blog. Thoughts and stories about Korea, my return to Paris, etc. After 4 years away, everything feels kinda new around, not only because things have changed due to covid-19, Paris did become way more pedestrian friendly than before, roads and buildings have been renovated, and the actual mayor is going to ban all cars in the center of the city by 2022. Fuck, once again I don’t know where I am going with that, I’m not focused, oh yeah, even after 2 years and millions of people vaccinated it seems we are back to square one as the fifth wave of covid infections is hitting Europe, and governments are freaking out and bailed on their “living with covid policy”, once again we’re getting fucked by incompetent assholes. I started to write about how the country, like the rest of the world, was so divided, but what’s the point? I already wrote about it here and there on my blog and it’s not gonna change much. Talking about change, what I saw once I looked at the news on TV is how all the problems France had over the last 10 years just got worse. Insecurity, violence, incivilities, economy, public service, education, terrorism, the far left and the far right being out of their mind and tearing apart the country, and so on. I’m a moderate, I am not attached to my ideas, I love to listen to different opinions, question my own beliefs, and hope for the best for everyone. Democracy is a perpetual work in progress, but damn we are surrounded by weak and incompetent politicians focused on keeping their seat at the table and too afraid to take actions. Far from being perfect, I am aware of how lucky I am to have grown up in France, when I see the social rights and freedom of expression we have, even compared to South Korea.

To be honest I started writing this post after reading the quote of Bukowski I put at the beginning of this post, and because I wanted to use this dumb drawing I did on my iPhone using Procreate.

Why the fuck people can’t be kind to each other?
