Social media frenzy and the art of doing nothing.

If you take a few steps back and think about it, it’s kinda weird to see all these Instagramers and Tik-Tokers around the globe, doing lip-syncing videos. It’s so ridiculous and useless, yet super trendy. What a weird world we live in. If you look at it closely you realize the most successful videos are the ones with attractive people in it. At the end of the day “hot people” can do the most stupid things, everyone will watch and like the content. It struck me when I started seeing all these Reels of gorgeous Korean women lip-syncing in my feed, no idea why the algorithm thought I could enjoy it. Is the freaking algorithm totally out of its mind or even scarier, it knows me better that I know myself, true question…?

Anyway, I was like “what the fuck, this is so dumb, but damn they are gorgeous and I want to make love to all of them”. Another dumb trend I witnessed on my feed, were videos of Korean or Chinese ladies walking casually in the street for a few seconds then looking at the camera and smile, like if they were some kinds of celebrity and a paparazzi was filming them. Nothing happens at all, they are just some good-looking gals playing on their likeness, and they 100% have the right to do so, don’t get me wrong. Hot dudes are also doing dumb shit like and this trend is probably global, but I’m talking about what I see on my feed. I have no idea where this “paparazzi-ish video” trend started from, tho. One thing I’m sure of, the art of being successful doing nothing has reached a new level of craziness.

But is it really the art of doing nothing? At the end of the day, I guess they succeeded in entertaining people and making them forget their daily life struggles for a few minutes, the shitload of likes they got on their posts is there to prove it. Whatever way you’re using it, entertain people and you’ll make big $$$, that’s the society we live in. It just has to sync with your core values tho, because you can pick the game, but you can’t change the rules.

Maybe it’s not that bad, except when it becomes the only game available.
